Crestview, Florida, is a city in Okaloosa county that also serves as the county seat for Okaloosa county. Crestview has an elevation of 235 feet above sea level, making it one of the highest points across the entire state of Florida. Due to its high elevation, Crestview receives over 65 inches of rain each year, second only to its neighbor, Fort Walton Beach. In addition to serving as the county seat for Okaloosa county, Crestview is also a principal city of the Fort Walton Beach-Crestview-Destin Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Located on the peak of a long woodland range between the Yellow and Shoal rivers, Crestview's name originated from the beautiful sights seen over the two rivers that run parallel to the city. At one point in its rich history, Crestview was referred to as the "icebox of Florida" due to it receiving the coldest winters on record. Crestview has since graduated from its original nickname to being known as the "Hub City" due to the convergence of I-10, U.S. Highway 90, State Road 85, and the Florida Gulf and Atlantic Railroad, not to mention the Yellow River and Shoal Rivers which run parallel on each side of the city.

Located just six miles south of the city is Eglin Air Force Base, one of the largest Air Force Bases in the entire country. Due to its proximity to the Air Force Base, a large portion of the Crestview community has close ties to the armed forces. In fact one of Crestviews' biggest population spikes came from the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure round, as the U.S. Army's 7th Special Forces Group relocated from Fort Bragg, North Carolina to a newly built barracks on the northern end of the Eglin Air Force Base.
